Buying guide
How German kitchens are actually priced - by price group, internals, worktop and installation - and what that means for a project in Scotland.
German kitchens are not priced as a single product. The cabinetry, the front, the internals, the worktop and the installation are each costed separately, which is why two quotes for the same room can look nothing alike.
We supply Impuls directly, with Schuller and Nobilia available through our sister company, so the comparison below reflects real dealership pricing rather than list guesswork.
A compact German kitchen in a lower price group such as Impuls PG01, with laminate worktops and no installation.
A typical family layout in PG02 or PG03, installed by our own team, with a quartz worktop and a mainstream appliance package.
PG04 fronts, an island or peninsula, tall unit banks, sintered stone surfaces and integrated appliances.
Open-plan layouts with utility and boot room, full appliance specification, and building work included in one price.
Indicative guide prices only. Your quote depends on the layout, the range and the specification, all of which we price free of charge.

German manufacturers group doors into price groups. Impuls runs from PG01 to PG04, and the same layout can move thousands between the lowest and highest group.
Handleless systems add cost through the rail or grip profile. Most Impuls ranges can be specified either way, so it is a genuine budget lever.
Drawer runners, internal organisers, tall pull-outs and lighting are priced individually. Internals are where German kitchens earn their reputation, and where budgets quietly grow.
Laminate, quartz such as Silestone, or sintered surfaces such as Dekton. Expect a meaningful step at each level, especially with an island.
German kitchens arrive rigid-built and flat-packed by range. Supply-only saves the labour; fully fitted keeps one team accountable for the result.
The same cabinet can carry very different retail margins. We quote as an independent Edinburgh dealership, and guarantee the best price on German kitchens in Scotland.
Same cabinetry, different fronts. This is the clearest lever you have on budget.
Three German manufacturers, three price positions. All are built to order and delivered to Scotland; the difference is how far the specification goes.

| Element | Share of budget | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Cabinetry and fronts | 40 - 55% | Carcases, doors, drawer fronts, panels and plinths. The front price group moves this figure more than anything else. |
| Internal fittings | 5 - 12% | Drawer boxes, cutlery inserts, tall pull-outs, corner solutions, bin systems and cabinet lighting. |
| Worktops and splashbacks | 10 - 20% | Laminate, quartz such as Silestone, or sintered stone such as Dekton, templated and fitted. |
| Appliances | 10 - 20% | An AEG package with a Blanco sink and a Quooker boiling tap covers most family kitchens. |
| Installation labour | 15 - 25% | Our own joiners, plus electrical, plumbing, plastering and flooring work where needed. |
| Building work and making good | 0 - 15% | Wall removals, service moves, levelling floors and decorating around the finished kitchen. |
German cabinets arrive built, square and to fractions of a millimetre. Doors and drawers stay aligned for decades, which is the practical difference you feel ten years in.
Thicker carcase material and laser-edged fronts resist moisture at the joint - the usual failure point in cheaper cabinetry.
Nothing is made until it is ordered, so you specify exact widths, heights and internals instead of working around stock sizes.
Full-extension soft-close runners and quality hinges are standard specification rather than a paid upgrade.
Because ranges run for years, a replacement door in five years is still available in the same finish.
Consolidated factory deliveries come straight to your home anywhere in mainland Scotland, including the Highlands.
| Kitchen type | Typical UK price | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| German mass-produced (Impuls, Nobilia, Schüller) | £12,000 - £60,000 | Precision, internals and value for a straight-run or island layout in a regular room. |
| UK high street retailer | £8,000 - £35,000 | Speed and finance offers, though carcase specification and lead-time reliability vary widely. |
| British hand-built in-frame | £45,000 - £100,000+ | Period rooms, irregular walls and furniture-style detail, built to measure in our Edinburgh joinery. |
| Trade or flat-pack self-fit | £3,000 - £10,000 | Rentals and short-term projects where lifespan is not the priority. |
We build both sides of that table: Impuls German kitchens and hand-built cabinetry from our own Edinburgh joinery.
Architect drawings, a floor plan or measured sketches are enough for a first quote. There is no charge for design.
You see the layout, the range, the price group and every line item, so you know what is driving the number.
If the number is over budget we adjust the price group, worktop or appliance package rather than stripping the design.
A measured survey confirms every dimension before the factory order goes in.
Built to order in Germany, typically 5-6 weeks, delivered direct to your home.
Fitted by our own team and covered by a 5-year guarantee on the installation.
